Pagliacci Pizza Coming to Madison Valley

Zaw PizzaI never have recovered from when Kentucky Fried Chicken moved out of their location from the Madison entrance of the Arboretum.  I was only a kid when they moved, but I still refer to it as the old Kentucky Fried Chicken location.  The tenant currently is Spotless Cleaners, but after so many years, a wrong is being righted with the news that Pagliacci Pizza is coming to the space.

Pagliacci Pizza needs little introduction to Seattleites.  Started in 1979 in the University District which is about the same time Kentucky Fried Chicken left the location on Madison where Pagliacci is taking over.

From its new location, Pagliacci will deliver to such Seattle neighborhoods as Madrona, Madison Park, Leschi and Capitol Hill.

Mioposto Caffe & Pizzeria

MiopostoAnyone who has visited the Mount Baker neighborhood in Seattle and driven passed the south end of Mt Baker Park has noticed the classic brick building that houses several businesses.  There in the southwest corner of the building sits Mioposto Caffe and Pizzeria with views of the park as well as the green space between Mount Baker Boulevard.   Mioposto comes from the same owners as Coastal Kitchen on 15th Avenue on Capitol Hill.  Mioposto is a great, family friendly pizza restaurant that is perfect for the neighborhood and Seattle alike.  Great all year round, the pizza place is especially fun in the summer when the big windows are open to let the breeze come off the park while the wood-burning oven cooks the thin crust pizza.  Order a pizza and a salad and enjoy it with wine or beer.  And if it is too early for pizza and a drink, then go in the morning for organic espresso and either pastries or frittatas/quiches.

A fun restaurant and a great excuse to drive to Seattle’s Mount Baker neighborhood if you have never been there.

Pritty Boys Family Pizza Opening in Madrona

Madrona PizzaPritty Boys Family Pizza had a food booth at Madrona Mayfair this past Saturday – which was not only a good place to get pizza, but also a place to find the scuttlebutt about the restaurant.  First of all, the pizza was very good.  The peperoni were small (about half the size of peperoni on typical pizza) and flavorful.  I did pat it with a napkin to soak up some grease, but to me that is not a bad thing.

Since I have been anxiously awaiting their restaurant, I asked when they expected to open.  They told me that there was no official opening date because they have had some delays, but they were trying to open next weekend.  So whether it is this weekend or not, it is good news that Pritty Boy Family Pizzeria is coming soon to Madrona.

In addition, to speaking to the pizzeria employee at Mayfair, I walked by the restaurant this weekend.  The place is really shaping up.  In the northwest corner of the restaurant, they have a play area set up with a various toys for small kids to play with.  In the south end of the restaurant, they had a video game machine.  This portion of the restaurant is set up for young teenagers.  With about 20 tables, the Madrona pizzeria should be a popular place for Seattle families to hang out whether their kids are 2 or 14.
