Chef’s Table at Restaurant Bea

Restaurant BeaWe are big fans of Restaurant Bea and have written about the Madrona restaurant many times, but we are not the only one that enjoys the Seattle restaurant.  Seattle Weekly, Seattle Times, typical restaurant websites such as Yelp, and even other local blogs have all given Madrona’s Restaurant Bea  a thumbs up.  All of the sources agree that you should try Restaurant Bea, but we would take it one step further and say: you should not only dine at Restaurant Bea but also reserve the Chef’s Table.

The Chef’s Table is literally in the kitchen at Restaurant Bea.  The round table seats 2 to 4 people and allows you to experience the inner-workings of the restaurant while enjoying a 5-course meal that is selected for you by the chef.  Watch the chef prepare your meal while the bartender, just a few steps away, suggests a wine that would best compliment the next course.  A fun and different experience at a Madrona restaurant that you are not able to enjoy at other Seattle restaurants.

Take our advice, call well in advance and reserve the “Chef’s Table” at Restaurant Bea.

Madrona Moves Up in Seattle Neighborhood Snackdown

Seattle is chalked full of amazing eateries, but which neighborhood has the BEST eats? Seattle Weeklyis determined to find out which neighborhoods are willing to back their local restaurants by competing in  the publication’s 2nd annual Snackdown contest, where neighborhoods are matched up Northeast vs. Southeast,  Ballard vs. Fremont, etc to determine once and for all who is the best eating district.

Last week the Southeast bloc, which consists of Madrona, Mt Baker, the Central District, Beacon Hill, Georgetown, Columbia City and the Rainier Valley will now advance to play in the competitive tournament this week after beating the best of the Northeast. Voting begins today and the Southeast will certainly need it this week, as they go up against last year’s reigning champ neighborhood White Center. If you think Madrona and the rest of the Southeast “hoods” have what it takes, cast your vote to help claim the bragging rights for the Snackdown title.

Madrona Ale House Has Late Night Happy Hour

While Madrona Ale House is known for being one of the best kid friendly restaurants in Madrona, it’s also a good time for adults too. The kiddies will love the mac and cheese, and you can enjoy an alehouse burger, washed down with an ice cold beer. But some nights you just want to leave the kids at home with a sitter, and that’s why this restaurant is so well versed, because they also cater to the late night adults, with a late night happy hour!

I’m not quite sure how long they have had a happy hour but I’m glad we stumbled upon it, because the happy hour menu is not listed on their website, and the neighborhood should really know what they might be missing out on! From 9-10:30 pm you can come in for $4-5 deals such as mini burgers, mini nachos, or papas locos fries smothered with cheddar cheese, tomatoes, pepperonis and bacon! They also offer drink specials until 11pm, so if you’re in the neighborhood and looking for a cheap late night  snack, don’t rule this one out as just a place you take your kids for pizza.

Seattle Met Reviews Restaurant Bea’s New Chef

As of two weeks ago, when Restaurant Bea‘s favored chef Tom Black of the Barking Frog, and 35th Street Bistro in Fremont was replaced with a lesser known chef, there has been some discrepancies in the quality of food, according to a review by the Seattle Metropolitan. Have you noticed any differences in the restaurant’s service?

The review also stated that the food critic had come a little early in the chef’s transition, and still had high hopes for the restaurant overall, which has been a Madrona favorite for locals and visitors alike. If you’re in the neighborhood, you be the one to judge for yourself.

Maple Leaf Coffee Shop Opens Sister Store In Queen Anne

If you’re a fan of Maple Leaf’s Cloud City Coffee, you’ll be pleased to know that the owners have swooped up a storefront in Queen Anne- the El Diablo Coffee Company!

The 12 year old Queen Anne coffee shop was purchased last week by Jill Killen, owner of the Maple Leaf shop she started 10 years ago. El Diablo will have the same baristas, and staff as it had before, and will host the same menu focusing on Cuban food and drinks. Killen plans to expand the menu, offering some of the favorites from her Cloud City store like morning glory muffins, and various breakfast and made-to-order lunch sandwiches. The drink menu will also undoubtedly expand to offer a full espresso bar and chai tea. If you’re looking for a new caffeine fix, find out all of Killen’s plans for El Diablo here.
