Chef’s Table at Restaurant Bea

Restaurant BeaWe are big fans of Restaurant Bea and have written about the Madrona restaurant many times, but we are not the only one that enjoys the Seattle restaurant.  Seattle Weekly, Seattle Times, typical restaurant websites such as Yelp, and even other local blogs have all given Madrona’s Restaurant Bea  a thumbs up.  All of the sources agree that you should try Restaurant Bea, but we would take it one step further and say: you should not only dine at Restaurant Bea but also reserve the Chef’s Table.

The Chef’s Table is literally in the kitchen at Restaurant Bea.  The round table seats 2 to 4 people and allows you to experience the inner-workings of the restaurant while enjoying a 5-course meal that is selected for you by the chef.  Watch the chef prepare your meal while the bartender, just a few steps away, suggests a wine that would best compliment the next course.  A fun and different experience at a Madrona restaurant that you are not able to enjoy at other Seattle restaurants.

Take our advice, call well in advance and reserve the “Chef’s Table” at Restaurant Bea.

Madrona Moves Up in Seattle Neighborhood Snackdown

Seattle is chalked full of amazing eateries, but which neighborhood has the BEST eats? Seattle Weeklyis determined to find out which neighborhoods are willing to back their local restaurants by competing in  the publication’s 2nd annual Snackdown contest, where neighborhoods are matched up Northeast vs. Southeast,  Ballard vs. Fremont, etc to determine once and for all who is the best eating district.

Last week the Southeast bloc, which consists of Madrona, Mt Baker, the Central District, Beacon Hill, Georgetown, Columbia City and the Rainier Valley will now advance to play in the competitive tournament this week after beating the best of the Northeast. Voting begins today and the Southeast will certainly need it this week, as they go up against last year’s reigning champ neighborhood White Center. If you think Madrona and the rest of the Southeast “hoods” have what it takes, cast your vote to help claim the bragging rights for the Snackdown title.

Beers and Brats all Weekend; Fremont Oktoberfest is Here!

With fall nearly upon us, we’re all itching for something fun to do to this weekend before the weather takes a turn for the rain. If you’re searching for a place to enjoy a beer and a concert with friends and family, we’ve found the perfect spot to celebrate the end of summer at the annual Fremont Oktoberfest. Tomorrow kicks off the weekend full of festivities, with German inspired Beer Gardens near 35th and Phinney Ave, with over 80 micro-brews and German lagers on tap! There is no charge for admission to the festival itself, but if you wish to partake in the beer gardens, admission is between $20-30, and includes a beer mug and tasting tokens. Beers start flowing at 5:00 pm and close at 11:15 tomorrow, and guests can enjoy their beer in small or Buxom Size!

Oktoberfest isn’t just about the beer; there is a list of events planned for the whole family to enjoy, including a 5k on Saturday morning, and a street scramble on Sunday where groups will be given 30 locations throughout the Fremont area to find hit, and the group that’s makes it to the most points of interest in 90 minutes wins. Feel guilty leaving your pup at home? Bring him to Sunday’s Dogtoberfest, where he can join you in the beer garden, sip filtered water in 92.5’s doggie ultra lounge, and run alongside you in a 5k. There is also live music throughout Saturday and Sunday, and a pumpkin chainsaw carving contest, so come on down and enjoy Oktoberfest the Fremont way!

Madrona Ale House Has Late Night Happy Hour

While Madrona Ale House is known for being one of the best kid friendly restaurants in Madrona, it’s also a good time for adults too. The kiddies will love the mac and cheese, and you can enjoy an alehouse burger, washed down with an ice cold beer. But some nights you just want to leave the kids at home with a sitter, and that’s why this restaurant is so well versed, because they also cater to the late night adults, with a late night happy hour!

I’m not quite sure how long they have had a happy hour but I’m glad we stumbled upon it, because the happy hour menu is not listed on their website, and the neighborhood should really know what they might be missing out on! From 9-10:30 pm you can come in for $4-5 deals such as mini burgers, mini nachos, or papas locos fries smothered with cheddar cheese, tomatoes, pepperonis and bacon! They also offer drink specials until 11pm, so if you’re in the neighborhood and looking for a cheap late night  snack, don’t rule this one out as just a place you take your kids for pizza.
